i-teba have used the new JDF/JMF compliant modules to seamlessly integrate the Heidelberg presses at TJ International* with their SolPrint Management Information System. (Printer of the Year 2004*).
Implementation started in May 2004 and already the system is being hailed a winner. Further installations are taking place as we speak at long established customers eager to take advantage of the benefits JDF links can offer.
In short, as the print industry consolidates and runs become shorter the need for more detailed tracking of print-runs was required. SolPrint has managed to do this with the help of JDF.
JDF can now tie all parts of the print process together by standardising the flow of information between different print technologies. Until now this required proprietary interfaces.
Investigations by i-teba discovered that JDF could improve the flow of information between SolPrint and the printing processes. The i-teba team identified that job details could then be sent directly to the printing press, via a SolPrint JDF Module, and that data could then be captured from the press and fed into the SolPrint MIS system without the need for human intervention.
As a result there are more accurate job timings and SolPrint is able to send set-up information direct to the printing presses. This means cost savings – time savings – greater profits.
