W. G. Spowarts
W. G. Spowart is a specialist printer of labels for the food, beverage and household markets. Based in Glasgow, they supply in the region of 40 million labels per week throughout the UK and Europe.
Brief
Supply and implement a comprehensive solution to control and manage the complete label printing process.
Business Case
Spowart’s needed to get closer to their customers by providing a just-in-time label service. They wanted to be able to manage large amounts of finished stock on behalf of their customers and to streamline their manufacturing processes. The ability to run large production jobs that were composed of multiple batches of smaller orders was a key requirement.
Implementation
We helped Spowart’s to implement an ERP package that helped them to deliver the process changes they were seeking. The scope of the system covers the complete end-to-end process from prospecting through to despatch. It also includes pallet tracking to allow the management of finished and part-finished items.
We worked closely with Spowart’s to ensure that the delivered system met their requirements, either by configuring the package or by developing bespoke modules.
Benefits
One integrated system and database now controls all processes. Management information is readily available.
The system provides a firm basis for future development and the next stage of the project is to allow customers to place their orders over the web.
Client Feedback
Q: What made you decide to buy a new system?
A: We had the Milpara system from Software Technetics - the supplier stopped trading leaving us with little choice.
Q: Why did you choose SolPrint?
A: We wanted a fully integrated solution, up to and including the Nominal Ledger. SolPrint seemed the only system that was able to operate in a similar way to our business and i-teba was willing to work with us to develop the system to meet our specific requirements.

Q: What benefits will the system bring?
A: Fast accurate information with up to date costing at all times via the touch screen shop floor data collection. We also see e-commerce will be used to a greater extent in the future and SolPrintXN has good functionality here. | |
